In January 2005 employees at Knorr-Bremse AG set up Knorr-Bremse Global Care in a bid to offer effective help to the victims of the tsunami disaster in South-East Asia.
Following successful completion of these projects, a decision was made by the Knorr-Bremse managers to continue the work of Knorr-Bremse Global Care worldwide in the long term and to provide annual funding.
