In 2008 there was a focus on education projects, including some in Central America for the first time. Asia was hit by two natural disasters in May 2008, and the organization assisted victims in Burma and China. Knorr-Bremse Global Care provided funding amounting to more than 600,000 Euros for 18 projects in 11 countries. The assistance provided benefited over 14,000 people.
Funding: by region
The last three tsunami projects were completed in Asia, a package of emergency aid was put together for the cyclone victims in Burma and funding was provided for three education projects. In addition, some new projects were started in Germany (in Berlin and Munich) and the organization supported two projects in Central America and two in Africa.

In 2008, 10 of the 18 projects were education projects. One project supports young people with their vocational training, three help young people with their school education and the rest support schools directly. The six infrastructure projects were in Asia (four) and in Europe (two). Emergency aid was given to cyclone victims in Burma and to people in need in Ethiopia.
Number of people helped: by region
The emergency aid package for the cyclone victims in Burma provided 10,000 people with fresh water. The clothes collected by Knorr-Bremse staff benefited around 1,500 people in Ethiopia. In Central America and Europe, where most of the projects are educational, around 430 children and young people were given the opportunity to attend school or training facilities.
