Rebuilding of 75 Houses supervised by UN-Habitat. The residents were involved in the construction. The foundation stones for the first houses were laid on May 17, 2006 at a ceremony that generated considerable interest amongst the media and general public. This Knorr-Bremse Global Care funded project is the first and only reconstruction project for houses in the densely populated Saintamarutha region, which was particularly badly hit by the tsunami.
