Czech Republic – Knorr-Bremse aids flood victims

Over the weekend of August 7/8, 2010 the river Wittig (a tributary of the Neisse) broke its banks near Liberec/Hejnice, the site of a Knorr-Bremse plant. Many houses belonging to Knorr-Bremse employees were affected, and in some cases suffered heavy damage. Members of the workforce living in surrounding towns and villages were completely cut off from the outside world.

Knorr-Bremse Global Care has agreed to send help directly to three of the worst-hit villages and has put together an emergency aid package with drinking water, food and equipment to help with the task of clearing up.

An appeal for donations has gone out to Knorr-Bremse sites in Europe, and people are rallying around to help their colleagues in the Czech Republic.
