Germany - Advent donations

Julia Thiele-Schürhoff (center) and Eva Seifert of Knorr-Bremse Global Care present a cheque to Hanswilli Jenke from the Süddeutsche Zeitung Advent Calendar.

Since 2006, Knorr-Bremse has been regularly making donations during Advent to German charitable organizations such as the "Adventskalender für gute Werke" or "Sternstunden e.V."

Any company that operates at more than 60 sites on all continents of the globe has a social duty to support those in need in the world. Unfortunately poverty is a phenomenon that occurs even in Germany, and in many cases people are not covered by the social security network. This money is used to help needy children and old people in Germany.

The Advent Calendar produced for charity by the publishers of the Süddeutsche Zeitung has been helping people in need since 1948/49. The beneficiaries, who all live in Munich or the surrounding area, are mainly children in one-parent families, old people or parents with disabled children

Sternstunden e.V., is a charitable organization operated by the Bayerische Rundfunk broadcasting station with sponsoring and support from Bayerische Sparkassen, BayernLB and Versicherungskammer Bayern. It exists to support children and young people who are ill, disabled or otherwise in need – in Bavaria, Germany and all over the world.
