Mexico - Renovation of two schools

Children at the Humberto Gomez Secondary School welcome Julia Thiele-Schürhoff of Knorr-Bremse Global Care.

Two schools are re undergoing renovation at Knorr-Bremse’s site in Acuña.

In Mexico the state is responsible for building schools, paying teachers and supplying teaching materials, but improvements and refurbishment of buildings have to be funded by the schools themselves. When sums of money for bigger repairs are involved schools often have to appeal to parents for contributions or the help of a sponsors.

In Acuña the organization is contributing to general repairs and refurbishment of two schools. In the case of the Emiliano Zapata School the main focus is on improving the sanitary facilities, modernizing the windows and upgrading the entire school site. And at the Humberto Gomez School, Knorr-Bremse Global Care is rewiring the classrooms and washrooms and replacing the entire internal and external lighting as well as repairing fixtures and windows.
