Ethiopia - Clothing

Knorr-Bremse employees have donated 3.7 tons of second-hand clothes to needy people in Addis Abeba who are supported by the following institutions:

• Mother Teresa House

• Fistula Hospital

• Attat Hospital Gurage Zone Wolkite

• Leprosy clinic

• Old people’s home

• Prison for political prisoners

• German church school

• Kidane Meheret Children’s Home

• Abebech Gobena orphanage

• Catholic Archdiocese Women‘s Promotion Centre

• Street kids project “Streets will be only roads”

In response to a suggestion from the German ambassador Dr. Claas Knoop and his wife Monika, Knorr-Bremse Global Care joined forces with the Knorr-Bremse sites in Munich, Aldersbach, Schwieberdingen and Nuremberg to collect a total of 3.7 tons of clothing during the summer months of 2007 and 2008.

The clothing was sent to the German embassy in Addis Abeba, where the ambassador’s wife, Monika Knoop, took receipt of it, selected the institutions to which it was to be sent and personally organized its distribution during the summer months of 2007 and 2008.
