Knorr-Bremse donates EUR 1.5 million to help victims of the natural disasters in Japan
In view of the dramatic events and the catastrophic situation in North-Eastern Japan following the earthquake and tsunami, as well as the consequences of the nuclear disaster, the Knorr-Bremse Group has decided to donate EUR 1.5 million to support the relief effort. One third of this sum will go towards emergency relief measures and two thirds towards reconstruction projects. To ensure targeted and effective support for the victims of the disasters in Japan, the reconstruction projects will be chosen and implemented in Japan by the local Knorr-Bremse organization.
“We are deeply shocked by the scale of the catastrophe in Japan. Through our emergency relief aid and the longer-term reconstruction projects we want to signal our heartfelt solidarity with those directly affected,” commented Knorr-Bremse shareholder Heinz Hermann Thiele.
