Many fishermen have lost not only their houses and family members, but also their boats which allowed them to earn their living. Knorr-Bremse Global Care has helped two local fishing cooperatives and has financed the provision of 21 fishing boats. The boats have a length of 19.5 feet and are equipped with a 15 PS outboard engine as well as with the nets required by the fishermen.

Furthermore, Knorr-Bremse Global Care has supported the further added value chain by supplying the required work equipment to the fish traders. The traders each needed scales, transportation box as well as a bicycle in order to be able to buy the fish from the fishermen on the beach directly from the boats and then to sell the fish at the market in the next village.
