Knorr-Bremse donates more than 2 Million EURO for victims of the tsunami in South Asia
The Knorr-Bremse Group has made an initial donation of EUR 2 million to help alleviate the tragic consequences of the recent undersea earthquake in Asia. Further support is being organized by the company’s various subsidiaries in their home countries.
To ensure effective and sustained assistance for the victims of the catastrophe, a large proportion of this sum will be devoted to setting up special projects - yet to be precisely defined - such as the building of schools and children's homes or the restoration of drinking water supplies. Knorr-Bremse has also promised to contribute to the running costs of such projects in years to come.
"We think it is particularly important to make sure those in need of help are offered specific, sustained support. We are currently looking for individual projects in the region that require long-term funding and can be implemented in collaboration with other organizations," stated Heinz Hermann Thiele, Chairman of the Board and proprietor of Knorr-Bremse AG.
